Dr Sumit Samant
FRACS
Sleep Surgeon, Snoring, OSA, Rhinoplasty, Sinus Surgery, General ENT (adult and paediatric)
Mr Sumit Samant completed the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons SET training programme in Otolaryngology and obtained FRACS before joining the ORL Department at Auckland City Hospital as Consultant Surgeon in 2015. He is a member of the International Surgical Sleep Society.
Sleep Surgery is his primary and strong interest. His philosophy is guided by recognition of the complex, multi-system problem that is Sleep Disordered Breathing and an understanding that, through strict patient selection, meticulous surgical planning and rigorous data collection, sleep surgery should be a crucial tool along with positive pressure therapy for management of OSA and snoring.
His related interest in functional rhinoplasty to address structural as well as dynamic airway compromise arising from nasal septal and/or valve abnormalities ties in quite well with this.
He offers a wide range of surgical solutions for obstruction at nose, palate and tongue-base levels, based on the latest evidence.
Sumit is also a member of the Training Education and Accreditation Committee of the NZ Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, which coordinates the surgical training of Otolaryngologists in New Zealand.
